How to call a private ambulance: a step-by-step guide

Calling an ambulance usually happens at a stressful moment. Giving the right information the first time helps the team reach you faster and with the right equipment.

What to say and what to prepare when you call a private ambulance — in an emergency and for a planned transfer. A short, practical checklist.

First, assess the situation

There are two different situations:

  • Emergency: Call without delay. You can call our 24/7 line; if life is in danger, call 112.
  • Planned transfer: Transfers with a date known in advance, such as going home after discharge, trips to tests or treatment, or planned transfers between hospitals. You can request these by phone, WhatsApp or the request form.

What to say when you call

  1. Full address: City, district, neighbourhood, street, building number, floor and flat. If the place is hard to find, add directions (“the building opposite the pharmacy”).
  2. Location: If you have your phone with you, you can share your location in one tap with the “Send my location via WhatsApp” button on our website.
  3. The patient’s general condition: Are they conscious? Breathing? Can they walk? If they are bedridden, be sure to say so.
  4. Number of people: Tell us if more than one person is injured.
  5. Destination (for planned transfers): The hospital, ward or home address.
  6. A call-back number: Keep the line free and your phone on.

Until the team arrives

  • Keep the building door open and, if possible, have someone wait outside to meet the team.
  • Call the lift to the ground floor; tell the team in advance about narrow stairs or doors.
  • Put pets in a separate room.
  • Have the patient’s ID, a list of their medications and any hospital documents ready.

Extra preparation for planned transfers

  • Give your preferred date and time window and, if known, the discharge or appointment time.
  • If the patient is being collected from a hospital, give the ward name and floor.
  • If a companion will travel, say so in advance; what is possible in the vehicle is confirmed during planning.

How is the price set?

Private ambulance services are paid. The price is set separately for each request based on distance, type of transfer, waiting time and the team required. You can ask for information when you call.
