Private ambulance

Definition

Private ambulance: An ambulance service provided on request and for a fee, separate from the public emergency medical service.

A private ambulance is an ambulance service provided for a fee by private healthcare providers, separate from the free public 112 emergency medical service.

A private ambulance can be called on request in an emergency, for going home after discharge, planned transfers between hospitals, intercity and international transfers, and standby cover at events.

The price depends on distance, type of transfer, waiting time and the team required.
