Door-to-door stretcher transport by road ambulance between Germany and Turkey, with medical staff beside the patient throughout.

Highlights
- Door-to-door stretcher transport
- The standard road route
- Guidance on German hospital paperwork
- Written quote for your insurer
Most requests we receive from Germany concern a parent or relative in a German hospital whose family wants to bring them home to Turkey, or a patient returning to Germany after treatment in Turkey.
Which route do we use?
We follow the standard road route, the same one a satnav shows. Istanbul to Belgrade via Kapıkule, Sofia and Niš is common to all journeys; after that it depends on the city:
| Destination | After Belgrade, via |
|---|---|
| Munich, Stuttgart | Zagreb, Ljubljana, Salzburg |
| Frankfurt, Cologne, Düsseldorf | Zagreb, Graz, Passau, Nuremberg |
| Berlin, Hamburg | Budapest, Bratislava, Prague, Dresden |
Istanbul to Munich is about 1,890 km and Istanbul to Hamburg about 2,485 km. The calculator below shows the distance for your city.
Documents from the German hospital
Ask the ward for these in good time:
- Arztbrief: the doctor's summary letter
- Fitness-to-travel statement from the treating doctor
- Medikationsplan: the current medication list
- Acceptance letter from the receiving facility, if the patient is not going home
German or English documents are normally enough. If the receiving facility asks for a Turkish translation, we discuss it in advance.
Will insurance pay?
That depends on your policy. Please get written confirmation from your health insurer. We can give you a written quote for the application.
During the journey
The patient lies on a secured stretcher with medical staff alongside them the whole way. See the equipment on our vehicles and equipment page. Stops and overnight breaks are set before departure.
We do not give medical advice. Whether a patient can travel is the treating doctor's decision. Every request is assessed individually, and the plan and price are confirmed once the addresses and documents are clear.
