Companion

Definition

Companion: A family member or relative who stays with the patient during treatment or transport.

A companion is a family member or relative who accompanies the patient during treatment or transport. They can help the patient feel safe, communicate with the team and assist with procedures at the destination.

Whether a companion can travel in the ambulance depends on the vehicle type, the patient’s condition and team planning. So if a companion will come along, it is best to mention it when making the request.

For international transfers, the companion also needs valid travel documents.
