Patient monitor: A device that continuously measures and displays values such as heart rhythm, pulse, oxygen saturation and blood pressure.
A patient monitor continuously measures the patient’s vital signs and displays them on a screen. Values such as heart rhythm (ECG), pulse, blood oxygen saturation and blood pressure can be monitored with it.
In an ambulance, it helps detect changes in the patient’s condition during transport. The device gives audible and visual alarms when values go outside set limits.
Oxygen saturation is measured with a finger sensor known as a pulse oximeter.
