Definition
Emergency ambulance: A type of ambulance equipped to provide emergency care at the scene and take the patient to a healthcare facility.
An emergency ambulance goes to the scene of an accident or sudden illness, provides initial care and takes the patient to the most suitable healthcare facility.
These vehicles carry equipment to support vital functions (such as a defibrillator, oxygen, suction unit and immobilisation equipment) and trained emergency medical staff.
In Türkiye, the public emergency medical service is reached by calling 112 in life-threatening situations. Private ambulance services can also respond to emergency calls on request.
